“Mt Adams Cycling is a riding and touring club whose priorities include family, friends, fun, fitness, community and safety. Our goal is to welcome anyone from beginner to expert who is interested in the sport of cycling. Through mentoring and offering a wide range of organized rides from getting started to high adventure; we will help to find the rider inside of you. We believe in giving back to the community through mentoring and promoting cycling safety and awareness. We hope our philosophy will help all to find joy in the sport of cycling.”
MAC will provide educational and social functions for the benefit of its members and nonmembers. As a member of MAC there will be YMCA considerations along with insurance, mentoring, ride lists and opportunities to be involved in the community.
We cordially invite you to join our organization. In 2008. we grew to 125 members, the youngest being 12 years of age and the oldest was over 80. Our riders come in all shapes and sizes and from all over the Upper and Lower Yakima Valley communities of Yakima, Selah, Gleed, Naches, Terrace Heights, Cowiche, Tampico, Moxee, Zillah and Tonasket (no kidding!). Some like to ride a leisurely pace and pick fruit along the roadside, while others prefer the competitive paceline option and hammering the last bit of the ride to outsprint a buddy.
Our rides will take you through the many beautiful sights of the Valley including apple, cherry and pear orchards, past vineyards, along hop fields during harvest, and around (or over if you wish) the many scenic ridges the Valley offers. Additionally, those seeking a more challenging adventure can join our rides that lead up Chinook & Cayuse Pass to Paradise and Sunrise on Mt. Rainier, and loop back to Yakima over White Pass. Many rides have sag support, and families are encouraged to join at lunch or rest stops.
If weekend rides don’t fit your schedule, check out our Tuesday and Wednesday evening rides as well as our new morning rides that will soon start. So please scroll through the web site and explore our ride lists, contact us if you have questions, and consider joining us as a guest on one of our rides to see what we’re all about. Happy cycling!
